Problem Statement Phishing Detection of Websites Using Machine Learning Phishing websites are fraudulent websites designed to imitate legitimate websites and trick users into revealing sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, banking credentials, credit/debit card details, and other personal data. As phishing attacks continue to increase, traditional blacklist-based detection methods often fail to identify newly created or previously unseen phishing websites in time. The objective of this project is to develop a Machine Learning-based phishing website detection system that can automatically classify a website as Legitimate or Phishing by analyzing features such as the URL structure, domain characteristics, security indicators (HTTPS/SSL), and other relevant website attributes. The proposed system aims to provide users with quick, accurate, and real-time predictions, helping them avoid fraudulent websites and reducing the risk of cyberattacks, identity theft, and financial loss. This solution enhances online security by leveraging machine learning techniques to detect phishing websites more effectively than traditional rule-based approaches.
