Code of Conduct
Creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants
HackIndia is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, or technology choices.
We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event at the discretion of the organizers.

Welcome and support people of all backgrounds and identities. Create an environment where everyone feels safe to participate.

Work together constructively. Share knowledge and help others learn and grow.
Integrity
Be honest and transparent. Take responsibility for your actions and their impact on others.
Expected Behavior
All participants are expected to:
- Be considerate, respectful, and collaborative
- Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech
- Be mindful of your surroundings and fellow participants
- Alert organizers if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress
- Respect the boundaries and personal space of others
- Use welcoming and inclusive language
- Accept constructive criticism gracefully
- Focus on what is best for the community
- Show empathy towards other community members
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are considered harassment and are unacceptable:
- Violence, threats of violence, or violent language directed against another person
- Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or otherwise discriminatory jokes and language
- Posting or displaying sexually explicit or violent material
- Posting or threatening to post other people’s personally identifying information
- Personal insults, particularly those related to protected characteristics
- Inappropriate photography or recording without consent
- Inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome sexual attention
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
- Advocating for or encouraging any of the above behavior
- Sustained disruption of talks, workshops, or other events
- Pattern of inappropriate social contact, such as requesting/assuming inappropriate levels of intimacy
- Continued one-on-one communication after requests to cease
This list is not exhaustive. Use your best judgment and treat others as you would like to be treated.
Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, the organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including:
- Warning the offender
- Expulsion from the event without refund
- Ban from future HackIndia events
- Reporting to law enforcement if appropriate
- Public identification of the offender
Reporting Guidelines
If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify an organizer as soon as possible.
How to Report
During Events:
Approach any organizer wearing a HackIndia staff badge or visit the registration desk.

What to Include
When reporting, please include:
- Your contact information (if you’re comfortable providing it)
- Names or descriptions of people involved
- When and where the incident occurred
- Description of what happened
- Any additional context or information
- Names of witnesses, if any
All reports will be handled with discretion. We will respect confidentiality requests for the purpose of protecting victims of abuse.
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to all HackIndia spaces, including:
- Physical event venues
- Online platforms (Discord, Slack, social media)
- Email communications
- One-on-one interactions related to HackIndia
- Social events and after-parties
