Problem Statement Mining workers operate in environments where they can be exposed to: -Methane and other hazardous gases -Low oxygen / unsafe air conditions -Extreme temperature and humidity -Abnormal heart rate or worker distress - Accidents, falls and sudden impacts -Difficulty locating workers during emergencies -Poor communication inside underground mines Proposed Solution MineGuard is an AI-powered IoT smart helmet designed to improve mining worker safety. It continuously monitors hazardous gases, heart rate, SpO₂, temperature, and worker movement using onboard sensors. The system uses ESP32 and LoRa communication to transmit real-time data to a central dashboard. In case of gas leakage, abnormal health conditions, falls, or manual SOS, it immediately generates alerts and shares the worker's location/zone with supervisors. An AI-based risk assessment system analyzes sensor data to identify high-risk situations and support faster emergency response.
