OpenAI Supports HackIndia AgentVerse '26 With $12,500 in Credits for India's AI Agent Builders

HackIndia, India's largest hackathon series, announced that OpenAI is supporting AgentVerse '26, a virtual AI agents hackathon running Oct 30 to Nov 30, 2026. The $12,500 in OpenAI credits on offer, plus API credits for eligible teams, gives developers, students, designers and founders real tools to build AI agents that reason, use tools and complete real tasks. Registration is open at ₹100 per member and closes Oct 23, 2026 at 12:10 AM IST. As of Oct 19, 976 teams and 1,060 builders have registered.
What is AgentVerse '26?
AgentVerse '26 is an online hackathon from HackIndia focused on one question: what can AI agents actually do? Participants build action-oriented agents, including research agents, voice agents, workflow automation, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations. The event runs for a month, entirely online, so builders can take part from any city or campus. Tracks and problem statements will be published on the event page.
What OpenAI's support means for builders
OpenAI's support gives AgentVerse '26 participants direct access to the tools teams need to ship working agents. Eligible teams can receive $50 in OpenAI API credits to build and test, and the prize pool includes $12,500 in OpenAI credits for the top performers. What builders can win
Beyond the OpenAI credits, the prize pool includes ₹5,000+ in cash prizes and three Stirae Pro subscriptions, each with three months of access, for winners with an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer). Participants can also earn 30K Sharp Tokens through eligible participation and engagement. Top teams are invited to the HackIndia National Finale in Delhi NCR, and every eligible participant can receive an official certificate of participation. Partner companies also get visibility of standout builders, which opens doors to internships and hiring conversations.
Who scores the builds
Every HackIndia hackathon is scored by practitioners who build, lead and invest in technology.
